Technical information, tips, tidbits, etc. should eventually go here. I'm just slowly being lazy about getting started so I'm not entering much at the moment.

[edit] UNIX
My primary systems are all based on Unix.
[edit] Linux
Used it professionally and personally for the past several years.
[edit] Macintosh OS X
You noticed, I put this as a type of Unix, didn't you? It is based on one of the popular *BSD operating systems.
[edit] Solaris
What I use a lot at work and now at home. Follow my adventures in using Solaris as a desktop.
[edit] HP-UX
It's better than it used to be, really! Using it again professionally.
[edit] AIX
Calling this UNIX is very charitable really, because for years it was closer to IBM's MVS operating system for mainframes than to any UNIX, especially under the hood. AIX also has the fundamental problem that it relies on a binary registry, called the ODM.
[edit] Windows
I'm not a big user or fan of the Windows family of operating systems, but I might come up with something here and there. You do realize that it is an entire family of different operating systems, not just different versions of the same one?
[edit] Windows XP
Now that Windows 2000 is no longer supported by Microsoft, this is unfortunately the best option for a Windows user. I say unfortunately, because it still has unacceptable terms in the End User License Agreement and really was a few steps backward from Windows 2000 in some stability areas, in the name of portability. Vista has been so awful that even fans seem to be saying avoid it.
[edit] Windows 2000
I still argue it is better than XP in a few key areas of stability, but I still don't like the design of the under the hood. The Windows registry is a horrible idea.
[edit] Windows 98
Closer to DOS than Windows 2000, this operating system is not exactly something I'd advise anyone still run. Security updates aren't even provided for it anymore. That said, it was for years the baseline for games.
